An EF-3 tornado cut a path through the southern part of Hattiesburg, MS during the early hours of the morning. The tornado passed within a mile of where I live. We were lucky, but some weren’t.
If you watch The Weather Channel, you may have heard of Hattiesburg. We were on an episode of Real Time Tornado for an EF-4 that past right through the middle of the city in 2013. The path of the EF-3 from last year was only a few miles south of that one and actually crossed the path of the 2013 storm at one point.
I have been an amateur storm chaser for several years, but nothing prepares you for when a tornado strikes your hometown.
It may be Winter, but that doesn’t mean anything when it comes to the weather.
